A-Rod Reaches Several Milestones

Alex Rodriguez reached five milestones, all coming amazingly in the 10-run sixth inning for the Yankees. A-Rod crushed two homers in the frame; a three-run shot to left-center field and a grand slam to right-center. Here’s what it all meant:

  • Arod hits 2 HR’s and 7 RBI in one inning.

His second home run, the granny, tied him with Mark McGwire on the all-time home run list with 583 career homers — good for eighth place.

  • His second homer also gave him 30 for the year.
  • His seven RBIs gave him 100 for the year.
  • His seven RBIs also set an AL record for most in one inning.
  • It was the 12th straight season that A-Rod has collected 30 homers and 100 RBIs.

No recap necessary for this one. The Yankees won 10-2. Joba Chamberlain pitched a quick seventh inning and was clocked at 94-95 MPH according to pitchFX. More on that later.
