Per Tracy Ringolsby of FOX Sports (h/t MLBTR), recently fired former Padres General Manager Kevin Towers could be close to accepting a job with the Yankees.
Towers, 48, is a close friend of current Yankee GM Brian Cashman. He is a highly regarded evaluator of talent, especially on the mound, and would be an absolutely great addition to the Yankees’ front office. Hopefully, this news is true and the Yankees come away from the Winter Meetings with another sharp mind in the organization.

What would Towers' actual job be? A consultant to Cashman? He's already got an asst GM.
