Yankees Announce Rule 5 Pick

Via Joel Sherman (H/T RAB), the Yankees will take 25 year old outfielder Jamie Hoffmann from the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Hoffmann had 24 plate appearances with the Dodgers last year between May 22nd and June 10th. It was a “meh” 24 PAs as Hoffmann hit just .182/.167/.409/.576 with a homer and seven batted in. Thanks to two sac flies, his OBP was lower than his BA.

In 2,499 career minor league plate appearances, Hoffmann has a career line of .283/.355/.401/.756. He’s played mostly RF (258 games out of a possibly 357 in the OF) but has also seen time in center field (81 games) and left field (13 games).
