Another Yankees Prospect List, This Time There Are 50

James Esatto of Fonzie Forever put together a long ass list of the Top 50 Yankees Prospects. It seems even longer when you consider how long it would take to go through each player on the list and describe them, which he did. I’m going to post the list, but this is certainly something you’re going to want to check out for yourself at their site.

There are some hits and misses involved, can’t fault him for writing a few questionable comments out of 50. Two of the worst offenders are Austin Romine and Jeremy Bleich. He said Romine hasn’t lived up to expectations, but he’s good enough to win the Florida State League Player of the Year award. He also called Bleich’s fast ball “fringe-average,” his curve “below average,” and his changeup “average.” This is by far the harshest scouting report I’ve ever read and as far as I know Esatto is not a beat writer for any of the teams Bleich has pitched for (although maybe I’m wrong).

Here is the list (without commentary Esatto provided):

I'm not questioning the posting of the article on this site, as it is news, but what inside knowledge does the author have? Personal opinions mean nothing really, unless they are professional. I really just don't get Hoffmann at 22 overall….once again not complaining that you guys linked to it, but more about why anyone actually reads this guys opinion

  2. RPimpsner says:

I agree, BTW I just posted the Baseball Digest Top 20 Yankees Prospects in the Baseball Digest Bleacher Forum. I will be doing #21-30 next week, and so on until I finish up the top 50.

    Here is the link.

BTW Rob, get rid of that goatee you are starting to look like Al Borlan

  3. RPimpsner says:

Not exactly a credible list in my professional opinion.

  4. The entire thing seems absolutely random. Out of 50 guys though he does a decent job giving background on most of them. This list is far from one of the more insightful ones available though.

  5. Brandon says:

Yeah, I guess everyones entitled to their opinion and some people read it and some don’t
