Yankees Rumors: Not Quite Done Yet

According to Jon Heyman of Sports Illustrated, the Yankees might be done making major moves, but could still add a right handed bat such as Rocco Baldelli, Jonny Gomes, or Marcus Thames.

However, with Randy Winn in the fold as the team’s forth outfielder signing any of these players would likely come on a non-guaranteed minor league deal. As such, it is unlikely that they will pick up any of these players if they can find major league deals elsewhere.

And some of them have already found teams interested in their services. In Baldelli’s case, there is already word that the Rangers have some interest. The Reds have also been talking with Gomes. Out of the three Thames seems to be the only one without another suitor.

Thames might be the worst out of the three, but he’s a very strong non-roster contender. Over his career he has an OPS+ of 104 including a 99 last season. Against lefties that number jumps to 113 for his career. He might not make Yankees fans forget about Johnny Damon, but he could make them forget about Jamie Hoffmann.

One Response to Yankees Rumors: Not Quite Done Yet

  1. I think that if Thames wanted to he could take the final roster spot away from Jaime Hoffmann easily.
