Yankees 2010 37th Round Draft Pick: Cameron Hobson

Name: Cameron Hobson
Ht: 6′0″
B/T: L/L
DOB: 4-10-89
School level: SO

In the 37th round the Yankees selected lefty Cameron Hobson out of Dayton. He’s a sophomore so there is no rush for him to sign. The Yankees aren’t going to offer him a contract right away either as he is a draft and follow. He’ll pitch in the Cape Cod league this summer and if he does well the Yankees will make him an offer.

He throws a fastball, changeup, and curveball. He also set the school record for strikeouts last season.

Here is what the Dayton website had on him:

Hobson, a Crawfordsville, Ind. native, was selected in the 37th round of the draft by the New York Yankees. Although he is a sophomore, Hobson was eligible because he is 21. He was the 2009 Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year, and tallied a then-program-best 83 strikeouts in a single-season in his rookie campaign. This season, Hobson threw three complete games and had 68 strikeouts for UD. He has a 4.58 ERA and an 11-6 overall record in two years at Dayton.
