Not According to Plan

Manager Joe Girardi and the Yankees planned on limiting Phil Hughes' inning last night by removing the pitcher early from the game and using Javier Vazquez. But it didn't work out according to plan as Hughes needed 104 pitches just to get through 3.2 innings as he allowed five earned runs for the loss.
