Super-Nova Helps Yankees Take Series

Ivan Nova showed today that he might be the shot in the arm the Yankees rotation needs to hold them over during the stretch run as he helped the Yankees to a 2-1 victory over the White Sox in Chicago by going 5.2 innings and allowing only one run.

Some notes:

  • The Yankees are 14-13 during the month of August.
  • Nova is now 1-0 with a 1.93 ERA in 2 starts and 4 total appearances.
  • Francisco Cervelli went 4-for-4.
  • Joba Chamberlain hit 100 mph on the gun.
  • Marcus Thames started against the righty, but still managed to homer.
  • Mark Teixeira was scratched with his bruised hand.
