Cliff Lee Brushes Off Wife’s Comments

If you missed this morning’s story about Cliff Lee‘s wife not liking New York because of some unruly fans, here it is.

Here is the reaction from Lee and his agent via ESPN:

But the treatment apparently did not change how the Lees feel about New York.

Lee said he didn’t even know who did it and didn’t care, adding, “They’re at home right now.”

The day before starting Game 1 of the World Series against San Francisco, Lee said he can “brush it off as fans being fans” and a few people “just acting like fools.”

“The story is not an issue to us,” Lee’s agent, Darek Braunecker, told ESPNNewYork.com. “Her experience in New York is certainly a non-issue. She enjoys New York as much as anyone enjoys New York.”

On the flip side of Kristen Lee’s bad experience in New York is her close relationship with CC Sabathia‘s wife, Amber. They have been close since Sabathia and Cliff Lee played together in Cleveland.

I probably shouldn’t have even published the first story. This is really a non-issue that people have blown out of proportion. Fans are fans and nobody knows that better than the players and their families. In the end money talks and the Yankees are going to offer Lee a boatload of money.

When I first heard about this, I shook my head because why was this even news? Granted Cliff Lee has to take his family's opinion about their potential new home into consideration but seriously…I'm more concerned about how he'll pitch vs. how his wife and unruly fans will get along.

I'm not angry with you for posting this so the above is venting anger against everyone else who made this news from the jump. However, I did laugh because it seemed as if the gossip world was a buzz about this…sad lol

You yankee fans are a bunch whiney bitches who buy all the best players and still cant do shit. Cliff Lee is staying with the Rangers anyway.

Here is my question, Cliff Lee is the big fish in the Free Agent pond this year. If for whatever, they are not able to sign Cliff Lee, what are the possibly options after Lee? I can't see Zack G working well in the Bronx. He seems to be a smaller market or lower profile market type of player. To go from Kansas City to the Bronx is a big difference. Prior examples, Jeff Weaver and Ed Whitson are two righ toff the top of my head.

So, what might be their "other" options for a SP?
