The Yankees are down, but they are not out…Yet. Winning three games in a row will be hard, but it is not impossible. The Yankees have to play three must win games in a row and win them all. CC Sabathia is making an important start today, but assuming the Yankees can get there, Phil Hughes‘ start on Friday is equally as important. Then of course the Yankees have Cliff Lee waiting for them again at the end of the series. So yeah, there is that.
Here are some notes:
- Mark Teixeira has been officially replaced on the roster with Eduardo Nunez. That means no matter what no World Series for Tex.
- Expect Lance Berkman to play 1st base.
- David Robertson and Boone Logan have both pitched in the last 2 games and Joba Chamberlain threw 26 pitches last night, but expect all hands on deck this afternoon with the off-day tomorrow and the Yankees facing elimination.
- Yankees third base coach Rob Thompson will not be leaving the team to manage the Blue Jays.
That’s all for now. We’ll have more throughout the day.
