None of the Yankees top priorities, re-signing Derek Jeter and Mariano Rivera and signing Cliff Lee, are anywhere near close to done, but the Yankees have made a couple of moves already this offseason. Let’s take a look at them.
- Oct. 25: Yankees started their offseason by firing pitching coach Dave Eiland.
- Oct. 26: It’s announced that Joba Chamberlain will be back in the bullpen next year.
- Oct. 26: Dominican OF Wilmer Romero is signed.
- Oct. 27: Options for Kerry Wood, Nick Johnson, and Lance Berkman are turned down. Option for RHP Andrew Brackman is picked up.
- Oct. 28: Manager Joe Girardi is re-signed.
- Nov. 1: Hitting coach Kevin Long is re-signed.
- Nov. 2: Chad Gaudin and Royce Ring become free agents after being outrighted to the minor leagues. Melky Mesa added to the 40-man roster.
- Nov. 5: It is announced that Jesus Montero is expected to be starting catcher next year.
- Nov. 10: Jorge Posada told he will be regular DH next year.
- Nov. 18: Dominican RHP Rafael DePaula is signed.
- Nov. 18: Yankees trade 1B Juan Miranda to Arizona for RHP Scottie Allen.
- Nov. 19: Jonathan Albaladejo is released.
- Nov. 19: Yankees announce Larry Rothschild is hired as pitching coach.
- Nov. 19: 3B Brandon Laird, RHP’s Dellin Betances and Ryan Pope are added to 40-man roster. Yankees trade cash for Braves OF Cody Johnson.
