Free Agent Rumors: Rockies Interested in Javier Vazquez

The Colorado Rockies are looking to possibly replace free agent starter Jorge de la Rosa and, according to Troy Renck of the Denver Post, one pitcher they may turn to is Javier Vazquez.

The Rockies have also been rumored to have interest in free agent starters Jake Westbrook, Jon Garland, and Hiroki Kuroda so it seems like they’re just being attached to everyone lately.

His preference has always been to stay on the east coast, but he has pitched for Arizona and Chicago in the past. Really he might not have many choices of where to go though. It’s hard to see Vazquez signing with an American League team.

One thing is certain, the Yankees have expressed no interest in bringing him back. They are also unlikely to offer him arbitration so the Yankees won’t be getting any draft picks for him. That may be one of the few things that make him interesting to teams.

  1. Mike S. says:

Home Run Javy in Colorado. That should be interesting.

  2. I do not think Javier Vasquez is the pitcher required by the Colorado Rockies right now, he has shown a lot of inconsistency in his last seasons and nothing good is waiting for him at this stadium.
