Chien-Ming Wang Re-Signs with the Nationals

The Yankees are supposedly interested in bringing in some injury risk pitchers, but they won’t be bringing back Chien-Ming Wang as he re-signed with the Nationals yesterday.

It sounds like it is a major league deal worth $1 million with another $5 million in possible incentives. It doesn’t seem like the Yankees and Wang even spoke about returning to the Bronx, but they likely would have only wanted to extend a minor league deal to him.

Wang, 30, was once the ace of the Yankees pitching rotation, but has barely pitched at all in the past few years. In fact he didn’t pitch at all last season after the Yankees non-tendered him. He is recovering from a shoulder injury he sustained early in 2009.
