Zack Greinke Switches to Derek Jeter’s Agent

Zack Greinke, perhaps in anticipation of getting traded and signing a contract extension, has switched agents to Jeff Berry and Casey Close, according to Ed Price of AOL FanHouse.

This probably doesn’t mean much for the Yankees who would still have to trade for Greinke even to have a shot at signing him. It is worth noting that Close is also the agent for Derek Jeter.

Like I said though, it probably doesn’t mean much. The Yankees don’t appear interested in Greinke fearing that he might not be able to cut it in the Bronx and don’t want to give up the top prospects to find out.

The Yankees have contact the Royals at least once though and will probably continue to monitor trade talks just to make sure they don’t miss out on getting him cheaply.

  1. The speculation I first heard was to acquire Greinke and flip him to the Twins for Liriano.

  2. Craig says:

Still a "no thanks". I'd rather stand pat and see what shakes out during the season.

  3. Mike S. says:

Just catching the news now. Greinke traded to the Brewers.
