Andruw Jones Has Swelling in Knee

andruw-jonesVia Chad Jennings of the Journal News:

[Andruw Jones] is dealing with some minor swelling in his left knee — the result of offseason workouts, he said — but he’s able to run and hit without a problem.

This is probably nothing. A lot of this stuff comes up early in spring training, but it is bad to hear when a guy is having problems before he’s even officially supposed to be at camp.

Also, if there is any question in his health then it could change the Yankees roster, opening the door for a Justin Maxwell or Greg Golson to make the team.

This is just something to be aware of and certainly nothing to be alarmed about.

  1. Bronx Knight says:

Unless this is something serious, like a torn meniscus, shouldn’t be a problem. Jones was not signed to be an everyday starter, I see him as a more of a platooner, starting in place of Gardner or Granderson against left-handed pitching, and otherwise providing right-handed power off the bench.
