The Yankee Analysts Top 30 Prospects

Here is another Top 30 Prospects list for you. This one comes from EJ Fagan of The Yankee Analysts who has done a great job covering the prospects for them.

This is actually a pretty cool list becuase of the grading process that Fagan uses. Instead of just simply ranking them from one to 30, he gives them ratings based on injury risk, talent risk, and distance risk then he assigns them a number and letter grade. Take a look at the article to see for yourself, but here is a simplification of his list:

  1. Jesus Montero, C – 9.0B
  2. Manuel Banuelos, LHP – 8.0B
  3. Gary Sanchez, C -  9.0D
  4. Andrew Brackman, RHP – 8.5C
  5. Dellin Betances, RHP – 9.0D
  6. Hector Noesi, RHP – 7.0B
  7. Austin Romine, C – 6.5B
  8. Adam Warren, RHP – 7.0C
  9. Ivan Nova, RHP – 6.0B
  10. Slade Heathcott, OF – 8.0D
  11. Mason Williams, OF – 7.5D
  12. Brett Marshall, RHP – 7.5D
  13. David Adams, 2B – 7.0C
  14. Graham Stoneburner, RHP – 7.0D
  15. Jose Ramirez, RHP – 7.0D
  16. Cito Culver, SS – 7.0D
  17. David Phelps, RHP – 6.0B
  18. Melky Mesa, OF – 7.0D
  19. Bryan Mitchell, RHP – 8.0F
  20. Angelo Gumbs, SS/OF – 8.0F
  21. J. R. Murphy, C – 7.0D
  22. Robert Segedin, 3B – 6.5D
  23. D.J. Mitchell, RHP – 5.5B
  24. Corban Joseph, 2B/3B – 6.0C
  25. Evan Rutchyj, LHP – 7.5F
  26. Gabe Encinas, RHP – 7.5F
  27. Colin Curtis, OF5.0A
  28. Eduardo Nunez, SS – 5.5B
  29. Ryan Pope, RHP – 5.5B
  30. Ramon Flores, OF – 7.5F

Solid list. A few players are questionable, like Curtis, but get extra points for being major league ready.

Falling off the list from a year ago are RHP Jairo Heredia, LHP Jeremy Bleich, OF Kelvin De Leon, 3B Bradley Suttle, IF Kevin Russo, RHP Caleb Cotham. There were also nine other players on his previous list that are no longer in the organization. That means that there are 15 changes from his top 30 from a year ago.
