It’s not that the Yankees are looking to trade Mark Teixeira, but in a column last week Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports suggested that it could be possible that they might be open to a Teixeira for Albert Pujols swap.
Aside from just being generally unrealistic, the trade idea ignored the fact that Teixeira, a life long Yankees fan, has a full no trade clause. Well, Teixeira put to rest any possible dreams unrealistic Yankees fans might have of Pujols in Pinstripes when he insisted that he would not waive his NTC.
“I’m not going anywhere,” Teixeira said. “I go that no-trade for a reason. I’m going to be buried in these pinstripes.”
So there you have it. I suppose this doesn’t necessarily kill the absolutely unrealistic idea of Pujols in Pinstripes, but it does kill some asinine idea that they could or would trade Teixeira for him.
One aging veteran on a $300 million contract is enough anyway. Right?!?
