2 More of the Yankees Top Prospects Land on the DL

Update: Good news. The injury to Gary Sanchez is not a significant one. He is out with an abdominal strain and he’s only expected to miss “about five days or so,” according to Kevin Goldstein of Baseball America.

Original post: The Yankees announced that one top prospect in Dellin Betances landed on the DL with blisters, but later in the day they announced two more of their best prospects will hit the DL as well, LHP Manny Banuelos and C Gary Sanchez.

Banuelos is in the same boat as Betances with a blister on his left thumb. It will knock him out for at least one start, possibly two, but nothing more than that. It’s really not a serious injury at all and shouldn’t have much of an effect on his season.

Sanchez’s injury is a bit more ominus because there was no word as to why he went on the DL. He dealt with wrist injuries last season, but there is no reason to believe it is related to that. Hopefully it is nothing serious. Of course we will update you if it is.

If you are keeping score at home, the Yankees no. 2-4 prospects are all on the DL after the first week of the season.
