A-Rod Expected to Play Tonight

Alex Rodriguez left Saturday’s game with lower back and oblique stiffness, missed Sunday’s game, had the off-day Monday, and then sat again on Tuesday. With another off-day on Thursday nobody really believes him, but Rodriguez and the Yankees said that they expect him to play against the Blue Jays Wednesday night.

“If there are any questions, we know the schedule,” Rodriguez said. “But right now we are scheduled to play [tonight].”

So as of right now the plan is for A-Rod to play tonight. We’ll see what happens though because like I said there is an off-day again Thursday, sitting one more day will nearly have given him a full week off to rest. Eric Chavez has also done well filling in for him, hitting .389 with a .950 OPS in seven games on top of some stellar defense. Considering they are playing on turf in Toronto there is no reason to rush him, maybe the Yankees will change their minds.
