A-Rod’s MRI Comes Back Clear

New York Yankees Alex Rodriguez

Alex Rodriguez made a great diving catch on Saturday that showed flashes of when he was younger. Unfortunately he isn’t younger and the play caused soreness in his lower back and oblique area. On Sunday the Yankees held him out of the lineup and sent him for an MRI which came back negative, according to Conor Orr of the Star-Ledger.

It doesn’t seem like a serious injury and as of right now it doesn’t appear he will need to spend any time on the DL at all. The Yankees didn’t use him against Aurthur Rhodes on Sunday, a pitcher he normally destroys, which is an indication he is going to need some time off. Hopefully skipping Sunday’s game and then the off-day on Monday will be enough, but with Eric Chavez on the bench the Yankees can afford to be conservative here.
