Kevin Millwood Will Make Triple-A Start

General manager Brian Cashman said Kevin Millwood will make his next start for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Millwood threw a one hitter for Double-A Trenton on Sunday. The start could come Friday against Syracuse, but the plan has not been finalized. . . . Carlos Silva is not yet scheduled to pitch, and is undergoing a conditioning program at the team complex in Tampa.

The other day Millwood started for Double-A Trenton and threw seven innings of one-hit ball, but his fastball was down in the 85-86 mph range according to reports. So he isn’t quite ready for the major leagues. They have until May to evaluate him and put him on the major league roster otherwise he can opt-out of his contract which gives him time for two more minor league starts.
