Super Nova Ready for 1st Big Test Against the Red Sox

Ivan Nova got a shot at the Red Sox last season, but it was out of the bullpen and not at a time when his team so desperately needs consistent starting pitching. So today when he goes out there to pitch against the Sox it seems like a lot more than just one game is at stake.

If Nova comes up with a big pitching performance today it will take some of the pressure off of Phil Hughes and would likely give the Yankees a good amount of confidence in their rookie starter. If he gets light up then the Yankees could have a real problem on their hands with only one consistent starter. One start does not a season make, but this is as important as April starts get.

Today will also be the day that Eric Chavez finally dons the Pinstripes for the first time. He will be playing DH, which is odd considering Alex Rodriguez probably needs more of a rest than Jorge Posada, but the season is still early and A-Rod has been playing well so it’s not that big of a deal.
