Colon’s Shutout Salvages Memorial Day Weekend

Bartolo Colon continued to flash back to his glory days as he tossed a complete game shutout in a 5-0 victory against the Athletics yesterday. The win helped to salvage a Memorial Day weekend where the Yankees went 2-2 in three games against the Mariners and one against the A’s.

The win came a day after the Yankees got an eight inning game from CC Sabathia to avoid a sweep at the hands of the Mariners. The only Yankee reliever to pitch over the past two days has been Lance Pendleton, who pitched one inning in relief of CC.

Editor’s note: sorry for the lack of updates over the holiday weekend. I’ve been quite busy with my work for ESPN New York. Unfortunately with both softball and baseball playoffs going posts my be irregular for the next couple of weeks. I promise I’ll do my best to keep up though and we’ll be rocking at full throttle as soon as the high schools close for the summer.

Until then, use this post to discuss the Yankees over the weekend.
