Ivan Nova Responding Well to Pressure

One thing that stuck out to people in Ivan Nova‘s start last night, probably the best in his life, was the poise he displayed. That was great, but how about the poise he has shown since nearly losing his spot in the rotation at the beginning of the month.

Since June 3 Nova has been a serious contributor. In four starts he a 3-1 record with a 3.04 ERA over 26.2 innings. That’s a decent streak by a rookie who has been under pressure to perform. Last night’s start was even more impressive when considering the Reds are one of the better hitting National League teams and play in a decent hitters park.

Hopefully he can continue to put together streaks like this and has turned a corner as a rookie.
