Phil Hughes successfully pitched in an intrasquad game in extended spring training yesterday, routinely throwing 91-93 and even hitting 94 mph.
His next step is to make a rehab start this Sunday for the Staten Island Yankees where he is scheduled to throw 65 pitches while he builds up arm strength, according to the NY Daily News.
After that Hughes is expected to make at least 2-3 more starts before he is ready to re-join the Yankees in the beginning of July.
