Yankees 2011 7th Round Pick: Austin Jones

With their 7th pick in the draft, the Yankees popped Austin Jones or Bubba Jones as he’s normally called. Jones is 6-1, 210-pounds, left handed hitting 18-year-old with power out of Edmonds-Woodway high school in Washington.

He played catcher, first, and some outfield in high school, but was drafted as a first baseman by the Yankees.

He has no agent representing him and a commitment to the University of Arizona. He said it is going to get a nice signing bonus to get him to break his commitment, but sounded encouraged by how early the Yankees drafted him.
