Yankees Claim Jeff Marquez

jeff-marquezOne of the players the Yankees sent to Chicago in the Nick Swisher trade has returned. The Yankees claimed right handed pitcher Jeff Marquez off of waivers after he was designated for assignment by the White Sox last week, according to Tim Dierkes of MLB Trade Rumors.com.

Marquez is expected to be added to the roster tonight and will reportedly be in uniform against the Red Sox tonight.

This means they will have to clear room on the 40-man roster and they will have to send somebody down to the minors. Hector Noesi, who threw six innings last night, is a possible candidate to be sent down. They can also make room on the 40-man by sending Rafael Soriano to the 60-day DL.
