Yankees Release Sanit, Send Pendleton to Minors

brian-gordonIn order to make room on the roster for Thursday’s starter, Brian Gordon, the Yankees sent RHP Lance Pendleton to the minors and released RHP Amauri Sanit.

Sanit, 31, had a 5.21 ERA in 19 innings at Triple-A and 12.86 ERA in seven innings with the Yankees so he was an obvious choice to release.

Pendleton, 27, has pitched well for the Yankees and put up a 2.25 ERA in 12 innings. His BB/9 was high at 6.0, but most of that was from early jitters when he was first called up. It was a little bit of a surprise to see Pendleton demoted, but the Yankees must like Cory Wade slightly more. Pendleton will likely be back in the Bronx soon though.

Gordon, 32, of course pitched pretty well in his Yankees debut, he allowed two earned runs in 5.1 innings. He ran through a strong five innings pretty quickly before struggling in the 6th inning.
