Yankees Send 2 to DL, Call Up 2 More

hector-noesiThe Yankees officially added Bartolo Colon, strained left hamstring, to the disabled list yesterday and send Amauri Sanit, sprained right elbow, with him. To fill their spots on the roster, they called up Hector Noesi and outfielder Chris Dickerson.

Noesi has made four appearances with the Bombers this season and in 15.1 innings he has a 1.76 ERA. He’ll likely be given the first shot to replace Colon in the rotation.

Dickerson has served as the Yankees fifth outfielder at times this season. He played in 16 games and hit .333 with a .878 OPS.

There is not a lot of information out there about Sanit’s arm injury, but it is not a big loss as he was a candidate to get released eventually anyway. Colon is obviously the big loss here. Expect him to miss up to a month or more with this injury.

Not at all surprised about Colon, both the way he's pitched and that he'd go down with an injury, guy is too fat. Just keep rotating the parts in 2011, Noesi's next up, with Hughes or Silva on deck.

Hey, give Noesi a shot. The Yanks baby these young kids. Why not bring them up, even if they take their licks early on. They need to let them pitch more innings than they allow in the minors, Tom.
