CC Sabathia Needs Some Pie to Cool Off

cc-sabathia-pieOh my he’s on fire! Coming in to today’s start the Yankees ace, CC Sabathia, was 3-0 in his last three starts with a 0.40 ERA averaging 11 strikeouts and more than seven innings a start.

How does he follow that up? By tossing a complete game shutout against the Rays on Sunday barely out-dueling James Shields. He allowed just four hits, one walk, and struck out nine.

It was such an impressive performance that A.J. Burnett nailed him with a pie after the game.

“Why not?” Burnett said. “Did you see what he did?”

It was an impressive performance that has pushed his scoreless streak to 23 innings. The win increased his record to 13-4 and lowered his ERA to 2.72. What a season he is having.
