Girardi: Pedro Feliciano Done for the Season

This has been obvious for some time now, but Yankees manager Joe Girardi finally acknowledged this morning that lefty reliever Pedro Feliciano is done for the season.

Wallace Matthews of ESPN New York asked if it was likely Feliciano was finished for the season, Girardi said “I would think so, yeah.”

Feliciano was abused for years by the Mets, but Brian Cashman went after him anyway (and then cried over the obvious abuse after the fact). Then not even one game into his two-year $8 million deal Felciano went down with a torn shoulder capsule in spring training. He didn’t get surgery in an attempt at rehab, but that hasn’t worked so far.

At this point it is entirely possible that Feliciano never pitches for the Yankees as surgery at this point could knock him out for the entire 2012 season as well.
