The Yankees have not had their names attached to him, yet, but at this point it seems to be only a matter of time as the White Sox have made it known that their ace John Danks is officially on the market, according to Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports.
Danks, 26, is having a bit of a tough season because of injuries this year, but he’s still very young and a lefty which will make him attractive. He is a fastball/cutter/changeup guy who occasionally mixes in a curveball as well. Over the past three seasons he has a 3.78 ERA and a 117 ERA+. This year those numbers are down slightly to 3.92 and 104 respectively.
No word on how much the White Sox would expect in return for Danks, but the Yankees certainly would be unlikely to overpay. Danks is a guy who throws in the low-90’s whom the Yankees would likely see more as a no. 3 starter in their rotation than a true no. 2 to slot behind CC.
