Trade Rumors: No Chance Yankees Land Ubaldo Unless Rockies Drop Price 1

ubaldo-jimenezMore and more people are becoming convinced that the Rockies will indeed trade their ace Ubaldo Jimenez by the deadline, however it is growing less likely that the Yankees will be the ones to nab him unless the Rockies lower their asking price, according to Joel Sherman of the NY Post.

Sherman puts the Reds as the most likely team to acquire the 27-year-old Jimenez and even says that the Red Sox are more likely to get him at this point  than the Yankees. His reasoning is because the Rockies are insisting on at least three of the following four players – Manny Banuelos, Jesus Montero, Dellin Betances, and Ivan Nova. Sherman also mentions minor league infielder Corban Joseph as another prospect they would like to see included in the deal. The Yankees don’t even want to include two of their big three prospects in a deal and don’t want to discuss Banuelos at all.

A package of Montero, Nova, and Joseph is a pretty decent haul though so if the Rockies really are motivated to do a deal, maybe they would settle on that group. However, at this point it doesn’t seem likely. The good news is that the sides are still talking.

A trade of Montero, Nova (or Betances), and Joseph would have to be accepted. There would be no reason not to accept this unless you can get Danks for Nova, Warren and Brackman or something
