Trade Rumors: Yankees Scouting Edwin Jackson

edwin-jacksonVia Jon Paul Morosi of Fox Sports:

Yankees had a scout in Cleveland on Sunday, where White Sox starter Edwin Jackson was on the mound. He beat the Indians.

Yankees GM Brian Cashman has said in the past that he doesn’t exactly like this trade market for pitchers and would prefer to trade for a rental as he sees no long-term solutions available. Jackson is a free agent at the end of the year so he fits into this mold perfectly. After Hiroki Kuroda he might be the best rental starter available too.

Jackson has had a so-so year, but he is still 27 and is a perspective Type-B free agent right now giving him some added value. So the Yankees won’t get this guy for free. It really matters what the asking price is as Cash will certainly not be willing to give up a top prospect for him. Right now he’s on the list of guys whom the Yankees might jump for if the price drops low enough.

One Response to Trade Rumors: Yankees Scouting Edwin Jackson

  1. Mike Sommer says:

He's 7-7, 3.92 this year, ERA+ 104 as opposed to Nova's 8-4, 4.12, ERA+ 101. Jackson is 55-58 in his career, ERA+ 97, ERA 4.53. Instead of giving up someone for him, I'd much rather just bring Nova back up.
