Rodriguez is 32-years-old and is owed $36 million over the next three years. He has a 3.47 ERA this season with a 7.8 K/9 and a 2.8 BB/9. Those numbers have been pretty consistent for him since 2008 as well.

He would be a good option for the Yankees to pick up, especially considering that he’s a lefty. However there is reason to think that a move from the NL Central to the AL East would cause his numbers to go up quite a bit. At that point it doesn’t seem like he’s a huge upgrade over Ivan Nova.

A deal only seems likely if the Yankees don’t have to part with a big prospect for Wandy or that the Astros pick up a chunk of his salary. Neither seems really realistic though so I’m pessimistic at this point. It is hard to imagine the Yankees won’t upgrade their team at all though.

I've never seen this guy pitch but I already know I'd take him over Hughes. That's a pretty big contract though, I'm not sure I'd give up too much for him. What a weird name, "Wandy".
