#Yankees hearing #Rockies may lower price on Jimenez today, but still not to point where NY considers deal realistic.
Right now the supposed asking price on Ubaldo Jimenez is Ivan Nova + two of Dellin Betances, Manny Banuelos, and Jesus Montero, according to Joel Sherman of the NY Post. The Yankees are not going to give up two of those players let alone three. So the Rockies and Yankees are still a ways away. Dropping the price only by one player will not be enough.
Both sides seem determined however. A “source who should know” told Tim Kurkjian of ESPN that the Yankees are all over Ubaldo and the Rockies wouldn’t be lowering their asking price even a little bit if they weren’t determined to deal him. It is going to come down to who is more motivated for a deal to get done. It seems like Brian Cashman is ready to stand firm and not overpay as the Yankees don’t see Jimenez as an ace like the Rockies do.
I would still guess that a deal is unlikely to happen, however there is certainly a possibility that it could.
