Alex Rodriguez to Play in Minor League Game Friday

Alex Rodriguez, who has missed nearly a month while he is recovering from surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his knee, is expected to participate in a rehab game on Friday as the DH, according to Brian Heyman of the Journal News.

A-Rod will play as the DH tomorrow and if everything goes well, he’ll play third base for a few innings on Saturday. Joe Girardi hasn’t said exactly when he expects him back at this point, but earlier on he said that he didn’t think he would need a lot of rehab games. So my guess is early next week.

It’ll be good to get him back. The Yankees have done well in his absence, but he clearly has a large impact on this team when he is here. I spoke with CC Sabathia yesterday who had the same knee surgery and he said that he expects A-Rod to come back at 100 percent.
