Girardi: No Doubt Whatsoever that A-Rod Will Play Friday

Via Chad Jennings of the Journal News:

Alex Rodriguez is fine. Girardi said his knee was “achy,” but Girardi said he has “no doubt whatsoever” that Rodriguez will be able to play Friday. “I don’t really have a concern about him,” Girardi said. “The turf can do that to you sometimes, and he’ll be ready to go Friday.”

Good news there. It sounds like Joe Girardi just made a last minute decision to take A-Rod out of the game so there is no risk. Still, he has been playing poorly since his return from knee surgery and the bad numbers combined with this “achy” feeling in his knee does not bode well for the playoffs.

He was originally scheduled to bat 5th Wednesday night against the Rays. I wonder if there is a chance that he won’t bat in his customary no. 4 spot in the lineup during the playoffs.
