Teixeira Day-to-Day After Knee Beaning

It wasn’t all good news in last night’s game, in the 6th inning Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira was hit square in the knee by Alfredo Aceves.

“It couldn’t have gotten me in a worse spot,” Teixeira said to Andrew Marchand of ESPN New York. “It got bone, ligaments, it got it all.”

After the game manager Joe Girardi said that he was more or less fine and that no tests were planned, Teixeira even made it sound like he might play against the Blue Jays today, but it seems like he could miss a day or two. With the roster expanded and the impending return of Alex Rodriguez to the lineup, a day or two off might be a good idea for Teixeira.
