X-Rays Come Back Negative for Montero

Yankees catcher Jesus Montero took a pitch off his hand in the 6th inning against the Rays Wednesday night and came out of the game. Afterward manager Joe Girardi said that x-rays were negative and that he would have to see tomorrow how he felt, but that he thought he would be fine.

“My guess is that he’ll be OK,” Girardi told Chad Jennings of the Journal News. “We’ll check tomorrow, but the x-ray came out negative”

A little bit of a scare there in an otherwise meaningless game (Unless you are the Red Sox or Rays that is). Montero will likely serve as the primary DH throughout most of the playoffs and with Alex Rodriguez struggling at the plate and with injuries lately, his bat is as important as ever.
