Yankees Go with CC, Nova, and Garcia in ALDS Rotation

Everybody has been expecting the Yankees to make this announcement eventually, but after the game manager Joe Girardi finally did it. In the playoffs the Yankees will go with a three-man rotation consisting of CC Sabathia, Ivan Nova, and Freddy Garcia, according to ESPN New York.

Sabathia will start games no. 1 and 4, pitching game four on short rest. Nova will throw games no. 2 and 5, both games on normal rest, and Garcia will pitch in game no. 3.

A.J. Burnett will be on the roster and will pitch out of the bullpen. That was the reason Girardi used him out of the pen today, to sort of prepare him for that role.

No word on Bartolo Colon yet, but it seems safe to guess that he will sit out the ALDS. Hughes most likely will be in the pen with A.J.

  1. Bronx Knight says:

Assuming we reach a game 4, would the Tigers also go with Verlander on short rest?

  2. Verlander is going in games 1 and 5. They are going with 4 starters.
