Kei Igawa among Yankees 21 Minor League Free Agents

After six seasons in the minor leagues, if they don’t make it to the 40-man roster even the minor leaguers become free agents. The Yankees have 21 minor league free agents this year with Kei Igawa and Mark Prior among the biggest names in the group.

Here are the rest via Chad Jennings of the Journal News:

RHP: Francisco Castillo (Hi A), Noel Castillo (Hi A), Grant Duff (AA), Logan Kensing (AAA), Jeff Marquez (AA), Kelvin Perez (Lo A), Mark Prior (AAA), Josh Schmidt (AA), Kanekoa Texeira (AA), Eric Wordekemper (AAA)

LHP: Wilkins Arias (AA), Steve Garrison (AA), Brad Halsey (AA), Kei Igawa (AA), Jose Quintana (Hi A), Josh Romanski (Hi A)

C: P.J. Pilittere (AAA)

1B: Mike Lamb (AAA)

SS: Doug Bernier (AAA), Luis Nunez (AAA)

OF: Jordan Parraz (AAA)

There are a few names here that we’ve heard before, but the only one of any concern is lefty handed pitcher Jose Quintana. Quintana will turn 23 this winter, but had a good year at High-A Tampa where he put up a 2.91 ERA over 102 innings with a 7.8 K/9 and a 2.5 BB/9.

The Yankees can re-sign all of these players still, except for Parraz who has already signed with the Braves.

Re- veiwing the yankees 21 minor league free agent in the system. All these international players the yankees sign, after signing where do they go. They dont reach the major and a lot money spend on these players. We have a lot of very good players in our farm system but, they need chance. Stop sign old player for AAA and AA, move minor league players along. Like for the yankees to re-sign these player Kelvin Perez, Jose Quintana, Josh Romanski, Jeff Marquez, Eric Wordekemper, Luis Nunez, Francisco Castillo and Neol Castillo. Use them and look with in
