Return to Yankees Likely for Freddy Garcia 1

The Yankees may not stop at extending CC Sabathia‘s contract, it looks like they will move on to keeping Freddy Garcia next. Garcia’s agent, Peter Greenberg told Mark Hale and George King of the NY Post that the Yankees have expressed interest in re-signing his client and that the feeling is mutual.

Garcia is a Type-B free agent coming off of a one-year $1.5 million deal that was a non-guaranteed deal when he signed it last offseason. The Yankees will likely offer him arbitration, but try to work out an agreement in the meantime. He probably won’t need much of a raise, but it could be a guaranteed major league contract this time around.

I think it is a good move. His presence will give us some time to continue to develop our young pitchers. He pitched well for us and pitched the entire season.
