Yankees Offer Freddy Garcia Arbitration

The Yankees have offered arbitration to their lone Type-B free agent, pitcher Freddy Garcia, according to Mark Feinsand of the NY Daily News.

Garcia, 35, now has to decide if he will accept a guaranteed one-year contract or look to find work elsewhere. If he signs with another team the Yankees will get a supplemental round draft pick in next year’s draft.

Both the Yankees and Garcia himself have expressed interest in him returning to the Bronx and considering he couldn’t find a guaranteed deal anywhere a year ago there is a good chance he returns.

Last season he earned $1.5 million and made another $1.75 million in incentives after signing a non-guaranteed minor league deal in the offseason.
