Rumor: Asking Price for Danks is Montero and Banuelos

In their search for starting pitching the Yankees name has often been linked to Chicago pitcher John Danks, whom many expect the White Sox to deal this offseason. However, if the Yankees want to land him the asking price is said to include both of the Yankees best prospects Jesus Montero and Manny Banuelos, according to Jayson Stark of ESPN.

As one official told Stark, that asking price is simply “ridiculous” and it simply won’t be met. Danks will be a free agent following the 2012 season and there is no chance that GM Brian Cashman would be willing to give up either of those prospects for Danks let alone both.

For a deal for Danks to work out the White Sox would have to be willing to accept a package headlined by David Phelps, Adam Warren, or D.J. Mitchell. Obviously other prospects would have to be included as well, but if Kenny Williams is looking for more of a headliner than one of those guys a possible deal is dead.
