Rumor: Jorge Posada wants to join the Miami Marlins

It seems as if Jorge Posada is determined to play next season. First we heard that he reached out to the Mets, although both sides denied that (typical) and now we hear that he would like to play for the Marlins, according to Jon Heyman of Sports Illustrated.

This is a fit in the sense that Posada lives in Miami in the offseason and the Marlins are looking to add significant money to their payroll. However, they would have to be willing to overlook the fact that he is a poor defensive catcher at 40-years-old.

He did hit very well against right handed pitchers last year, .348 OBP and a .814 OPS, and he has the big name that could help them fill some seats. So it’s not impossible.

The first time Ozzie wants to bat him 9th there'll be fisticuffs, Posada by TKO. Never my favorite player, but after his diva act in Boston I don't care what he does as long as he takes his poor attitude away from Yankee stadium.

Damn Tom, you and I could make sweet babies together! I share so many of your opinions, including this! I can't see how any team would have interest in Posada at this point.

He should just start picking out his fishing gear and hope that his arm is strong enough to cast the line. Don't embarrass yourself and leave with what little respect you have for yourself Jorgieeee…
