The Yankees have been linked to Oakland Athletics starter Gio Gonzalez in trade rumors for a little while now, but Joel Sherman of the NY Post has reported that the two sides don’t match up in a deal and would probably need to involve a third team in a trade if they are determined to get something done.
The Yankees have plenty of minor league pitchers and catchers they could deal, but lack the outfield prospects that the A’s are looking for. Mason Williams is certainly a top prospect, but he hasn’t even played a full season yet and the A’s are not very likely to have a lot of interest in someone so far from the majors.
Bob Klapisch of the Bergen Record reported yesterday that the A’s have asked for either Manny Banuelos or Dellin Betances plus Jesus Montero for Gio. There is almost no chance the Yankees would include two of those three players in a trade.

AJ and Montero for Gio and a positive ptbnl- no cash.
Yeah right. Maybe you'll trade me your new Acura for a Yugo and a moped.
