Rumor: Yankees still big on Yoenis Cespedes

About a month and a half ago when we first heard the name Yoenis Cespedes, the Yankees were attached to him. And today it appears as if they are still interested in him as Kevin Goldstein of Baseball Prospectus tells us that the general consensus among the international baseball community is that the Yankees are “big” on the Cuban outfielder.

The Yankees have denied interest in Cespedes, but the rumors have been pretty consistent in saying that they are very interested in him. He is expected to be granted Dominican residency shortly and should be granted free agency by early January. We’ll find out then if reports are true.

Cespedes is expected to go from anywhere between $30 and $60 million, according to various reports. Boston, Detroit, Baltimore, Philadelphia, Texas, and the Cubs are all expected to be involved in the bidding, although Texas could potentially drop out after landing the rights to Yu Darvish.

The Yankees need to be BIG on Roy Oswalt….who just announced he only wants a ONE YEAR deal to re-establish market value.

An all star pitcher table setting on a mission to re-establish value is a good bet to produce in that #2 spot….and we keep our prospects in house.

As a fan, I have NO interest in Cespades right now. Yankees need more starting PITCHING!!

This guy tore up the Cuban league. Great. What does that have to do with major league pitching? What if you pay him 50 MILL and he couldn't hit a ML curve with a snow shovel…then what?
