Rumor: Yankees Want Andruw Jones Back

The Yankees want to bring their own free agent outfielder Andruw Jones back to the Bronx next year as they liked his right handed bat and cohesive force in the clubhouse, according to Jon Heyman of Sports Illustrated.

This isn’t exactly new news as Brian Cashman has said that he would like all of his free agents back at the right price. Things change over the course of the offseason though and if we are still hearing that the Yankees want him back than there is a good chance that he will be back in Pinstripes eventually.

Jones was brought in last year specifically to play against lefties, who he had a .384 OBP and .923 OPS against last year. He also played some solid outfield defense for them. If he could do that again he would easily be worth the $2 million they paid him last year.

Totally disagree here, if Jorge Posada wants to play for the same amount, I'd druther have Posada switch hitting than Jones RH bat and strikeouts. Jones is as washed up as Posada but Jorge is a better clutch performer, a true Yankee legend.

Posada proved his worth during the last two weeks and the playoffs… Why let him go to a competitor.
