So far the Yankees have been coy about their interest in Japanese pitcher Yu Darvish, but they would almost certainly submit a bid, even if it’s not an aggressive one, if he is posted. Here is the latest (all rumors come from this or that link):
- Darvish’s father has indicated that he might not be posted until mid-to-late-January.
- Ken Rosenthal explains that by posting later he would be eliminating smaller market teams who will have their payrolls set by mid-January.
- Darvish’s divorce is not expected to effect his decision one way or another.
- His team, the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters, would prefer if Darvish would post for salary relief purposes.
